Different Screen Styles
Fireplace screens come in three fundamental styles, each of which lends itself well to the use of copper.
1. The first type of screen attaches directly to a wood burning fireplace. Usually, you can interchange this screen with hinged doors. The main advantage of this product is that it doesn’t take up any space on the hearth.
2. The second option is a three-piece screen, most often consisting of a large center section with smaller sections on each side. Frequently, you’ll find two different tones of metal utilized in this style, one for the frame and another for the mesh screen inside the frame. This style of screen is attractive in front of various sizes of fireplaces without appearing either too large or too small, and is adjustable to the surface on which it sits.
3. The final type of fireplace screen is a solid freestanding screen with legs. Recent innovations have made this style more user friendly, as many of them now include a door that allows ashes to be emptied and logs added without having to move the screen.
